Lloyds Banking Group and commercial VRP: participation and availability

Last checked

UK financial services group with retail and commercial banking businesses and household banking brands. The shareholder announcement names Lloyds Banking Group, while Modulr’s available-bank list says Lloyds. Moneyhub separately names Lloyds and Halifax in its commercial rollout table. These are different levels of evidence: group participation is not a guarantee for every brand.

For the wider payment model, read our commercial VRP introduction. This profile separates Lloyds Banking Group’s historical participation from provider-specific technical availability.

Involvement in UKPI

Lloyds Banking Group appears in OBL’s 2 May 2025 initial funding announcement ↗ and UKPI’s 2 June 2026 founding shareholder announcement ↗. These dated records establish development funding and founding shareholding. They do not certify every account connection today.

Current commercial VRP availability

Modulr’s commercial VRP guide lists Lloyds as available. Check the provider’s current capability and onboarding requirements before offering this bank at checkout.

Supported accounts and banking brands

The shareholder announcement names Lloyds Banking Group, while Modulr’s available-bank list says Lloyds. Moneyhub separately names Lloyds and Halifax in its commercial rollout table. These are different levels of evidence: group participation is not a guarantee for every brand.

Do not extend a Lloyds listing automatically to Halifax, Bank of Scotland or every group product. Moneyhub’s Halifax rollout entry is a separate record, not a Modulr coverage commitment.

Not publicly confirmed for commercial VRP account products. Business, joint and savings accounts must be checked separately. A group or bank name alone does not confirm them.

Customer authorisation and controls

In the general cVRP journey, the customer selects a bank, authenticates with it, approves the receiving organisation and limits, then allows eligible payments within that permission. The customer can manage or withdraw the permission. This general explanation is not a claim that every Lloyds Banking Group screen behaves identically. OBL’s cVRP and consent guide ↗.

Cancelling payment permission does not cancel the bill, contract or amount owed. Bank-specific commercial consent expiry and amendment rules were not confirmed in the reviewed material.

Relevant uses and payment limitations

Explore the sector context for utilities, financial services, e-money, government, charities and rail. Sector inclusion does not mean every use is enabled for Lloyds Banking Group.

Commercial VRP is distinct from sweeping between a customer’s own accounts. Provider, bank and scheme terms determine access, limits and support. No universal Lloyds Banking Group commercial VRP fee, refund timetable or dispute procedure was verified here. Confirm those terms with the provider and bank.

Payment permission is separate from payment success. Businesses should check payment status and handle failed collections, expired or revoked consent and customer queries. Do not assume Direct Debit protections or card chargeback rules apply unchanged.
